Traditionally, I have been more tolerant of late entrants in the first
round, and I am particularly minded to be so this year given the shift
to Thu-Sat running for these rounds...but the weekend starts very
shortly!

I wonder whether the demise of Google Groups support for Usenet content
might have affected our entry list?

Only one voice here, but I have fallen into a bit of a funk over the
winter and will not be participating in the pool (this season). I will
still tune in to read comments and news, but will likely post even more
infrequently than in the past.

I'm happy with Eternal September as me news source and my mail program
(Thunderbird) lets me treat it just like regular mail.

Still healthy enough, although old age aches and pains tend to
contribute to the mental state. Beats being dead though, or so I'm told.

Sorry to hear this, Darryl. I’m 85 and, like you, suffering physical and
mental decline but I fully intend continuing to follow F1, as I have since
the 1950s. The pool provides a little extra interest (thanks Mark).

Completely understood, but happy to take a "default" in case you want to
join in later on.

Not a problem. Just a different distraction alongside the F1.

Usenet in general is in terminal decline again - big drop 20 years ago,
and now seen as a dinosaur. I keep being told by the youngsters that
even Facebook is for "old people".

I'm just happy to be heading towards being old as the alternative is
*much* worse!
