Mercedes customer teams got access to new engine modes for this weekends
Grand Prix and have showed how much difference that made by massively
improving their qualifying efforts. Force India and Williams have both moved
quite a way up the grid compared with their qualifying results from the
first three races.

I haven't found much info on this on-line though. AIUI the FIA have mandated
that customers get the same modes as PU suppliers so does this mean Mecedes
themselves have new PU modes this weekend? Or did they get away with not
giving these modes to their customers until now by claiming they were beta
testing them or similar?

......

I just found the answer on Pitpass.com. It seems that both the customers and
Mercedes themselves have new higher-power modes available for this weekend
following tests at Brixworth. Tests incorporating data from the season so
far indicated the PUs could be turned up and they'd still meet the 3 Pus for
the season requirement.

Sergio made good use of the newly unleashed Mercedes power. (He also made
great use of the DRS glitch, twice during the race using it when he
shouldn't have...)

Stroll did ok with it too.
