All the teams had lots of extra time to really lock down their cars and yet there seemed to be an inordinate number of mechanical failures for the first race of the season.

They had time, but were unable to run the cars in any meaningful way.

Made the cars act like F1 cars of the 60's & 70's. Half the field gone
with reliability issues.
