(If you press the Red Button on Sky Sports F1 during practice, qualifying, and race you get a multiscreen selection and pressing one makes it fill the screen - ordinary main feed, timing screen with commentary, pitlane view with no commentary but more radio messages than normal, several onboard views which can be toggled between commentary and engine noise)
This season so far it has been shambolic though - often the wrong picture feeds (even from golf etc), the mini screens can't be enlarged by pressing ok on them, no commentary, or a football commentary etc!
e.g. for Spain the captioned Pitlane screen was just a duplicate of the ordinary feed and had no commentary nor radio messages either, the onboards had no commentary.
The latest with this then - Monaco practice;
Still not entirely right - getting better though - at least each feed is F1 related now and the Pitlane view screen worked normal - though the entire thing then shut down about 15 minutes before the end of 1st practice.
(It is unknown if the actual problem lies with Sky or FOM etc - all that is happening each race though is the query is slowly being passed up the relaying chain)
At least Virgin Cable have a reference number to quote over the problem now - NKE00009864
I don't watch every minute of coverage but has Simon Lazenby etc mentioned the problem on air when mentioning the Red Button service?
Engineers at Virgin are now deliberately watching each session to check the problems but are only confirming and then passing the message again to Sky - and whether Sky have spoken to FOM yet I don't know.
Because the Red Button only works just before each session starts and then quickly shuts off afterwards (and due to skeleton staff at weekends) it has been difficult for Virgin engineers to check - hence still a problem with this many races gone I suppose.
If seems to be affecting both satellite and cable services - unofficially Virgin say `too many' viewers accessing the Red Button is causing an `overload' somehow.
