I have to say he's one of the most consistant drivers this year.

Good chance of him being lapped tomorrow.

The Red Bullies must be really pleased they signed him up for another 2
years.

A good decision by RBR. Not so good for Max maybe?

He'll blame the Renault (anything but himself) but he had an identical crash
two years ago;

Yes, I thought that at the time, glad to have it confirmed. Sainz probably
did, inadvertently, contribute to the accident but there is no room for
excuses, as Max knows very well.

they probably want Danny to win after lasts year's balls up.
So maybe Max's car won't be quite right. (If I were a cynic)

Personally I don't think Max could have beaten Dan to pole today anyway. He
was slower than Dan in every session and when he *did* try to beat him he
crashed.

Surely Malverstappen (or is it Verstonado ?) has given off that vibe

Somebody needs to take Mad Max behind the woodshed and knock the facts
of life into him.

If you want to be WDC then you need to win races.
To win races you need to be running when the chequered flag comes out.
To do that its best not to break the car.
A good way of not breaking the car is not to run into things.
That is especially true in regard to your team mate.

Mad Max bumped into another car in FP 2
then he crashed is car.

In the race he bumped into Sainz and a little later
he cut the chicane in a wild overtake action, gained
a huge advantage but the rule makers think it is all OK.
So all Max learn is that he can get away with anything.

When Max was promoted from STR to RBR, I think he had it in his head that he was now the phenom, the "boy wonder" who was going to do all the winning for Red Bull. Instead, RIC is driving him under the table, and the kid is panicking.

The way I saw it was that Sainz was run off the road. They may even
have touched; if he hadn't taken evasive action they certainly would
have done.

The next lap Verstappen went too deep into the corner went off track
then blocked Sainz when he regained.

It's Monaco they tend to give a little leaway but on the face of it it
is remarkably inconsistent... though not as inconsistent as Martin
Brundle who comments were ridiculous IMO.

Yep I saw it that way as well. Sainz had nowhere to go *but* to cut the
chicane.

I saw it the same way (and not just because I think Max is over-rated).

Lap 58 Mad max overtook Sainz and was going too fast
for the chicane and cut it.
Any ... well -most- other drivers should have been penalized
and at the very least should have to give the illegal gained
position back.
I think it was lap 57 where Mad Max bumped into Sainz.

I think it was lap 57 where Mad Max bumped into Sainz.
On lap 58 in executing a pass Max didn't have all four wheels on the track but had a wheel at least on the kerb at all times.

On lap 57 Sainz in defending went clear across the open area inside the chicane.

Pretty big difference.

Yeh I know as long it is mad max it is OK so explain it away if you like.
Mad max was going too fast to stay on track which make it illegal
in my book. That fact that he barely touched the OUTSIDE of the
kerb doesn't make it legal in any way.
Post by Bruce Hoult
On lap 57 Sainz in defending went clear across the open area inside the chicane.
You should look at it again, mad max again was going too fast
to make the corner and bumped into Sainz who avoided further
damage by going off track.

It is how we amateurs drive karts when we push the man in front
of us off track. ( speaking for myself ).
Steering to the inside of the kart in front when there is no
way to get a clean pass.
Nice for karting or bumper cars.
