The article does say he said they should consider it. And I think that
is right, they should *consider* it. I think they would conclude it is
not the way forward, but that is just my opinion. But surely to find the
best way forward they need to consider all the options open to them.

But of course Bernie being Bernie he probably still likes to throw red
herrings into the mix, in which case you may be right and it is just a
piss take!

When you look at the space-age high-tech PUs and aero designs we now have, what is so different or unthinkable about an electric motor?

Now if Bernie had proposed steam cars, I WOULD bring up issues like practicality ---.

Not really. Bernie would trade on it, seeing as he is a perpetual
supplier of hot air.

Originally, these cars were supposed to use electric power only in the pit lane. Then somebody put the kibosh on that. I'm trying to think who it was.

Definitely, Bernie opposed the new PUs, saying they were too complex and too costly. Well... electric motors would be less complex (at least the bit that goes round and round would be) but less expensive? And there's already a Formula E (which is getting a lot of interest from manufacturers, which is what F1 was hoping for).

The Acropolis was built on Corinthian Columns in more ways than one.

Anyone remember the Chrysler television commercials from the 1970s, which boasted of CORINTHIAN LEATHER?

Ricardo Montalban ("Fantasy Island")explains the rare leather invention ---:

Most of Chrysler's leather came from New Jersey, by the way.

Before that we had Naugahyde. I still have the scars where I left patches of skin on the burning hot seats after my car sat in the Texas sun all day.

And the smell of hot Naugahyde, oh the terrible smell...

Well nothing really except it comes from someone who wanted double
points and additional fuel for the sole purpose of making more noise. :-)

Maybe. They used to say they'd never make an electric road car, until
Tesla started stealing their customers.

Dan, a tale to make your hair stand on end. Here in coastal BC, Canada a few years back on Vancouver Island, a guy was cycling on a rural road near Port Alice, and heard intermittent sounds like (he later said) "a stick or a playing card stuck in my spokes". This went on for a hundred yards when he was knocked off his bike by ---- a cougar that had been following him. Cougar claws + tarmac + clickety-clickety.

He was lucky and brave. He used his bike to fight off the cougar, but the real luck on the lonely road was a pick arriving and helping out.

Wow, I once heard a similar story about a wolf in the American West.

Wow, I once heard a similar story about a wolf in the American West.
There's a debate among biologists about wolves and the danger they pose to humans. One researcher had to ear-tag some wolf cubs, and to his own surprise was able to reach into a den and take out each cub, while the mother circled some distance off and whined, but did not attack. But a hungry pack (they are pack-centred) might well run down a human if no other prey was available. There have been fatal wolf attacks on humans.

BTW, when dangerous cougars have been killed for pursuing humans, they are almost always found to have empty stomachs with only water and minimal scraps; an attack on a human is a desperate starvation-caused last resort.

An experienced hunter/trapper here said
"They are so shy and jumpy that you never know what the cougar's going to do, and in my opinion the cougar itself doesn't know what it's going to do!"

1). Killing an animal that is starving is animal cruelty and must be stopped.
2). Running away from a starving Cougar is also obviously animal cruelty and must be stopped.
Just ask any animal rights activist.

beers,
It took me a few seconds to catch on ---- I actually know someone who has those views.
Locally, a black bear followed a 2-year old into her house, and started prowling the front room. A man yelled and punched the bear on the nose and it fled. When I told the "someone" about it, she blew up "HE SHOULD BE ARRESTED!"

True. What can you do?

Bob,

As I posted in the other thread:
According to Joe Saward; Mr E was questioned by HM Revenue & Customs at a police station in London, under caution.

Those who have followed F1 for a long time will see that that would explain his comments.

Bernie is not above a bit of distraction, but in this case there's a 3 week gap between him being questioned (apparently the latest battle in a long running war) and this suggestion. Unless he had another interview today.
