I think it's that the Mercs intercooling is right on the ragged edge and it
doesn't like the hot races - especially when running in hot and turbulent
air behind another car.

I think it's that the Mercs intercooling is right on the ragged edge
and it doesn't like the hot races - especially when running in hot
and turbulent air behind another car.
They also have a tyre grip issue that only shows up above a certain
temperature (there was quite a difference between qually and race temps at
Sepang) and with corners of a certain radius / taken at a certain speed.
It's been plaguing them for a few years now (usually late season races,
especially street-style races) and is likely something to do with the fact
that they run their car more parallel to the ground than RBR and Ferrari -
both of whom run with quite a bit of 'rake'.

Hamilton has certainly had all the good luck the last two races. He hasn't had the best car, yet he comes away with a win and a second and has put some distance between himself and Vettel in the WDC.

Indeed the Merc wasn't even the 2nd best car at Malaysia.

So Merc and Hamilton will not get complacent yet.

Red Bull have done a very good development job, haven't they?
