Mickey Thompson's son Danny won the piston-engine LSR at Bonneville with two V8 engines, and might have run faster if one engine hadn't lost a valve on both runs.

Pushrod, 2-valve technology massaged to perfection. Naturally-aspirated, the solid blocks and cylinder heads were kept cool by the nitromethane fuel, just long enough to complete the two runs.
