That McLaren is a formidable car - it holds the lap record at Hungary.

It would be more accurate to compare to other laps done in that Renault (and
then by drivers who've been in it for more than 10 races).

Is he driving one handed? I presume he has a custom steering wheel?

The times are not that great, but Renault were not going to waste a test session giving Kubica a joyride, so we don't know what the program was.

The stand out for me is that he completed over a race distance with no reported discomfort. He is physically able to fit into and drive a contemporary F1 car.

NB! Kubica does not have or currently qualify for a super license.

The question is, will he able to get out of one in a hurry after an
accident in which he may have taken a whack to his dodgy arm. Or to take
rapid avoiding action at 200mph to avoid injuring somebody else.

(Yes, I know he passed the extraction test, but that's *very* controlled
circumstances...)

But that is all we know about any current driver - they passed the extraction test.

Initially I thought a return for him to be unlikely, that Renault were just giving him the thrill of driving in a fast car again - and themselves some publicity.

But now they've given up a valuable test day to accommodate him, so maybe it's a bit more serious.

There might be something more going on.... Flavio has been recently seen on races (talking to many teams) and he still manages Alonso and Kubica. Yet Flavio has probably still many friends at Renault.
